Projects:
Although this isn't every project that I have going at any given time, it is however, a
place to start. I try to atleast put a link to the project's directory here and a short
little blurb about it. Of course, a couple things have gotten put here simply out of a
lack of a better place to put them.
If you want to know what is actually cooking it is probably a better idea to
ask. Most of these projects are on
again off again. If there is something that you would like to see get some attention drop
me an email.
Simple Browser Proxy [SBP]
A PHP based proxy which, although still under development, seems to have tickled a couple
people's fancy. Although SBP isn't meant to
be the most secure means of hiding your browsing activity it does provide you with basic
anoniminity without the hassle of configuring your browswer or installing additional
software.
If you're interested in a little more information you can check out it's project pages on
SBP on sourceforge.net or
SBP on freshmeat.net.
Also, there is a demo of the latest release,
which I host. The demo's default page is it's own 'about' page which provides basic information
about the project.
jBlog
Currently taken down.
jBlog is the result of my own frustrations using
blogger.com's blogging suite. Although I don't begin to compare
jBlog to Pyra's [those owning blogger] software
I am glad that I began this project. I use jBlog
exclusively and of all my projects it receives the most steady development because of my daily use
of it's systems.
jBlog has not yet been made into a sourceforge.net
or a freshmeat.net project as there is someone who already registered a project named jBlog. Although
I plan on releasing jBlog's source
code I am not in a hurry to think up a new name just to create an official project on either of the
previously mentioned sites. Until I can think up another name you can
contact me for the source code at anytime.
Also, I am willing to host the blogs of people willing to help me test
jBlog. Perhaps if the few users who previously used
jBlog were to return it would prompt me to start an
official project. Until then, you will have to go through me for any source code, etc.
RSS
After getting rather upset that Google News doesn't offer RSS
feeds, and not finding any reliable, outside sources, I decided to generate my own RSS feeds for
some of my more favorite news sources. As of writing this I currently scrape feeds for: CNet, CNN,
Google - Business, Google - Entertainment, Google - Sci/Tech, Google - Top Stories [currently broken],
Google - US, Google - World and Slashdot. The only other person that I have come accross who produces
decent feeds is googlenews.74d.com. I used his feeds until
one day, for about 6 hours, his services were unreachable. That, combined with my own curiosity, pushed
me to create my own feeds.
Although my feeds only currently hold the last 21 [unless I have changed it] I am generating tables and
relating them by the source, etc. I plan to, once I have a significant amount of data, to provide some
additional feeds based up different criteria... Currently my feeds are updated every 5 minutes although,
should any bandwidth issues arise, I may scale that back to every 15 minutes.
All my feeds are available in the feeds directory. In
the future I plan on offering a frontend to my DB to offer users the ability to search through past articles.
host(s) file
Whether you're trying to block ads in windows using a host file or you are bocking ads in Mozilla, etc. you
can use my list-->here to cut down on the number of ads/harassment that you will face
surviving of the net.
If you don't know what a host file is but are interested in blocking those pesky ads then check out something
that I typed up a while ago for a friend-->here. I only add servers whose primary
purpose are serving unwanted advertisements. I have excluded a couple offenders on the account that the ads
are a necessary evil when using their systems, for example, Yahoo. If you
don't know what I am talking about then block access to rd.yahoo.com and you'll see what I am talking about.
Blocking ads in Mozilla or other browsers require a little different format but isn't nearly as effective as
using a hosts file as a hosts file blocks all traffic to that host. This behavior, however, is also
the reason that you don't just want to block any ad server as some are necessary such as rd.yahoo.com. I use
both [when I am on a windoze box], otherwise I survive with blocking the images using just Mozilla. If you
have any questions/suggestions don't hesitate to drop me an email-->here.
Javascript Bookmarklets
Added a bookmarklets page. For now, there are three entries. The first is an
easy link for posting to your blogger.com** account. The second allows one to toggle
CSS (Cascading Style Sheets) and the third toggles borders on tables.
**I can't vouch for the working state of this bookmarklet as I no longer use blogger.com's services. If you notice
that it doesn't work I will remove/note that on the bookmarklets page.

Questions an Idiot Might Ask and Questions
an Intelligent Person Might Ask.
Those have always been popular in the past so I thought I would post them. If you have any questions feel free to
drop me an email-->here and I'll include them [I'll determine which
category they are included in :)] and put a link to your site if you wish. Enjoy.
